What is “Get in the Show”?
Get in the show is a nationwide audition-based search that will give the winner the chance to be a voice in Adventures in Odyssey.
Who is eligible to audition?
Boys and girls who are U.S. residents and between 6 and 15 years of age during the audition period are eligible to enter the contest.
I live in Canada. Why can’t I enter the contest?
The country of Canada and each Canadian province have different rules for contests than the United States. Though many of our contests are open to Canadian fans, this one is not, unfortunately.
What is required for entry into the contest?
Entry submissions must include a video recording of the entrant reading the designated script. Entry submissions must be uploaded to the official Get in the Show page during the audition period.
When will the script be available?
The script is available now on the Get in the Show website.
When and where can I record my script?
Recordings will take place at participating stores across the U.S. during the summer of 2012. Find a store in your area with our Store Listing (PDF).
How do I record my audition at the store? Will they have a camera there?
Bring your own camera (along with your script) to the store. There will be a place to record your audition at the store. Then, take your camera home and upload the video to the website from home.
Do I have to live in Colorado to record my entry?
I want to enter the Get in the Show contest. Do I need to attend the Adventures in Odyssey Birthday Bash in Dallas?
No. Get in the Show is a separate contest and you don’t need to attend the live show to enter. Auditions for Get in the Show will not be held at the Dallas event.
If I win, do I have to move to L.A. or Colorado?
No. All travel expenses for finalists and winners will be paid for by Focus on the Family.
If I’m a finalist, do I have to travel by myself?
No. Each finalist will also bring one parent or guardian with them to the special event on November 3, 2012.
How about if I’m the winner? What then?
All travel expenses will be paid for the winner of the contest plus one parent to fly to California for the recording of the Adventures in Odyssey episode in which the winner will appear.
If I win, will I become a permanent character on Odyssey?
There are no current plans to make the new character an on-going role.
Will I have to bring a partner to read with at the bookstore audition events?
Yes. Your partner can be any age or either gender. We would suggest a family member, parent, or friend.
My brother or sister is eligible to enter. Can we both enter? Can he or she be my partner?
Yes and yes. Both of you can submit entries, but make sure to record them separately with each of you reading the lines of the contestant in a different video. Group entries aren’t allowed. We would suggest recording the two scripts with one person as the contestant and then switching to record with the other person being the contestant.
